Master Builders Excellence in Housing Awards 2010 - Best Custom House
Best Custom Home $300,000 - $400,000 - Special Commendation MBA

The construction of this ultra modern home incorporated the Benex wall system, which was a first in Victoria. An old residence was demolished to make way for this custom built single storey home. As the home was built on a boundary line the builder needed to ensure that the product used had a fire rated solution.

Benex was the choice of product due to its load bearing 4 hour fire rated properties. With very little room to work with on the boundary line, the project was made a lot simpler as Benex requires no tanking and less excavation due to the product being impervious to water.

Benex was judged the winning invention on Episode 40 of ABC TV’s The New Inventors program on 5 November. Inventor and Managing Director of Benex Pacific Kerry Bennett explained that the idea to create an easier building method came to him five years ago when as a builder he was continually facing a shortage of skilled workers. Mr Bennett said that the interlocking features of the Benex make it the most simple and accurate building block in the world and it is expected to replace most current forms of wall construction.
